Apple announces to launch the Thunderbolt Display in two months time

Apple Inc. announced that it would launch the 27-inch Apple Thunderbolt Display, world’s first thunderbolt display, within the next 60 days. The Apple Thunderbolt Display essentially is a docking station & display which is compatible with both the latest MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models.

With a 16:9 aspect ratio and 178 degree screening angle, the Thunderbolt Display will come with an edge-to-edge glass design. The Thunderbolt Display will have a FaceTime camera, Gigabit Ethernet and LED backlighting attached with it. It will also feature FireWire 800, USB 2.0 and Thunderbolt ports. Additionally, it will have a MagSafe connector that can be used to charge any MacBook Pro or MacBook Air models.

The Apple Thunderbolt Display runs on two bi-directional channels and has 10Gbps transfer speed for each of the channels. Apple said that it would charge the Thunderbolt Display £899 including VAT.

Earlier, Apple Inc. said that Thunderbolt Display has many features as Apple's standard 27-inch Cinema display. Users will enjoy the in-plane switching (IPS) technology with a 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution in the Thunderbolt Display. It will also feature an ambient light sensor, built-in speaker and a topnotch microphone.

According to Philip Schiller, vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing, the Apple Thunderbolt Display should be the eventual docking station meant for all Mac notebooks. He said that with just one cable, Mac users will get to dock with new display and connect to their desired network links and audio devices.
